Black Friday and Cyber Monday TV deals: when is Black Friday 2021?
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the US. And it's very soon: this Friday, 26 November to be precise. Black Friday is followed swiftly by Cyber Monday on 29 November. However the sales are already in full flow, so if you're after Black Friday and Cyber Monday TV deals, you'll be able to find them right now. There might be better deals over the Black Friday weekend itself, but if that happens they'll probably sell out fast. So basically, if you see a suitable deal now it's probably worth going for it.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday TV deals: where to find the best offers during Black Friday 2021
You'll have a hard time finding a retailer that isn't packed with Black Friday and Cyber Monday TV deals, and because they're all after your custom. That means you're going to seem some unmissable prices wherever you look. If you're in the US, Best Buy, Walmart and Amazon are a dependable source of TV deals. In the UK you can find discounts at John Lewis, Currys PC World and Amazon, as well as other online retailers such as AO.com and Very.
Last year we saw some incredible deals on top-quality TVs from big brands including Sony, Samsung and LG, featuring everything from a modest 32-inch screen, to a massive 82-inch screen to fill a cinema room.
Are TV deals better on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?
It's hard to say which is best. In previous years we've seen some retailers offer further discounts on Black Monday, depending on how items sold on Black Friday. But on the other hand some of the best Black Friday deals sell out, and the TVs are back at their normal prices by the time Cyber Monday arrives. So the short answer is: it varies. If you see a deal you like, we'd advise you to snap it up it rather than hold our to see if the price drops further. Because the chances are that if the deal's good, it will sell out and the price will increase.
Should I go for OLED?
This year we're seeing some great prices on OLED TVs, which is good news because it's a seriously impressive display technology, but one you have to pay a lot extra for. OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode, and the big difference between OLED and standard LED TVs is that there's no backlight involved; each pixel emits its own light, and when it isn't emitting light you get a perfect black. OLEDs also tend to be lighter and thinner than LED TVs with better refresh rates.
There are downsides, though. OLED has limited brightness (up to 1,000 nits) which means it's not so hot in a brightly-lit room, and the smallest OLED TV you'll find right now is 48 inches, so forget about it if you're after a smaller screen. But if you can live with the drawbacks you'll love the sheer visual quality on display, and while you'll have to pay more for it, right now's a brilliant time to get OLED in your life for a more reasonable price.
